CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1978, The Learnatory has provided exceptionally robust summer camps as the perfect blend of academic development and recreational fun! Our goal is always to help young people develop the curiosity to explore, the confidence to discover, and the character to grow with excellence. Our small group ratio of 6:1 ensures each camper gets personal attention and enthusiastic support to address their passions and interests.

The Learnatory Esports & Coding STEAM Camps are for those passionate about video games and excited to code! National Esports Champions teach rising 3rd thru 11th graders proven strategies and provide personal VOD analyses of their gameplay in: Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Rocket League. Coding & Game Design STEAM Summer Camps include: SCRATCH, JavaScript, Python, C# thru Unity.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Partial scholarship grants are awarded as needed and when available.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Through The Learnatory In-School, After-School, Home-School, Weekend, Summer Camps, and online programs, The Learnatory, has served over 12,000 college-bound youth and teens in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City effectively and significantly boost their academic, personal, and career development. We offer over 50 various STEAM courses and programs. Our virtual program began in the Summer, 2020 and will continue to operate to serve more young people nationwide.

Each camper receives a proprietary PEP (Prescribed Educational Plan) for every class they take that states exactly what skills they will learn and documents at the end how well they learned them.

Esports camps are designed for those passionate about video games because research shows “Gamers are more likely to pursue high-paying careers in the lucrative STEM/STEAM fields than non-gamers.”

Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it is important for kids to understand and be able to work with and understand the technology around them.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This is an area that offers the perfect combination of excitement, relaxation and adventure. CAMP FACILITIES: We provide college dorms, classrooms, a cafeteria and a variety of fast-food restaurants, a fun campus atmosphere, and so much more.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Sketch Comedy Workshop will be taught by BYU Divine Comedy alumni and current cast members. Several of the instructors have had the opportunity to write for Studio C, with some past years instructors becoming cast members of the show. As part of the camp's evening lecture series, 2-3 current cast members of Studio C will come and share their experiences as sketch comedy writers and performers.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: BYU Continuing Education offers a limited number of partial-tuition assistance awards for students who would not otherwise be able to attend the program. These do not cover airfare or spending money. Because requests always exceed available funds, the financial aid process is competitive. Decisions are based on merit and financial need.

OTHER CAMP INFO: BYU offers in campus housing, or the option of commuting each day. If you stay in campus housing, you will have a counselor (one counselor for every 10–15 participants). Counselors supervise activities and coordinate devotionals (scripture, song, and prayer) each evening. Commuters will also be assigned a counselor and are welcome to participate in all activities, including evening devotionals. Campus participants are not allowed to leave the residence halls after the nightly headcount. Commuters must check out with their counselor and be picked up each evening by an adult after the rehearsals/activities.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our facilities include a three-story log lodge, modern bunkhouses, log bedroom cabins, lake nearby for swimming, shooting range, and an indoor arena.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Three Seven’s Ranch is a working ranch and Christian camp designed to help young people develop a good work ethic and strong character, to provide quality horsemanship instruction for both kids and adults, and to offer programs to strengthen the family. The theme "using the outside of a horse to develop the inside of a man" describes much of the ranch program.

Horsemanship Camp Director-Rick Benson: Rick’s varied experiences over the past fifty years make him well-qualified to serve as horsemanship director. For four years, he taught advanced horsemanship, served as the stallion manager, and acted as assistant to the veterinarian teacher at a vocational college. In addition, he taught adult horsemanship at another college for a year and for two years instructed at one-day clinics for the sheriff's department search and rescue workers. For many years, he has been breaking and training horses for individual trainers, at roundpen demonstrations, and for camp programs. At a Christian camp in California and then again at the 777 Ranch in Utah, he has developed a leveled horsemanship program, ranging from beginning to advanced students. Throughout the years, Rick’s primary desire has been the motto of the 777 Ranch—”using the outside of a horse to develop the inside of a man.”

A certificate is given after a rider has passed each level. One-on-one, as well as group, instruction is provided by qualified instructors. Campers are paired with a Three Seven's Ranch horse that is appropriate for their riding skill level. At the completion of the program, graduates are awarded with a silver buckle. The campers will also take part in other activities such as marksmanship, swimming, kayaking, chapel times, crafts, and games. Some spaces for the summer of 2019 are still available. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Every lesson is focused on learning about healthy eating and cooking. Build confidence in the kitchen. During every lesson, you will learn about nutrition and apply those skills in the kitchen. Enjoy preparing and eating healthy foods every day.

DAY 1 – BUILD CONFIDENCE IN THE KITCHEN
Knowing how to cut and prepare foods in the kitchen can be intimidating. During this lesson, you will learn basic knife skills and practice these skills by designing your own food art. Additionally, learn about food safety, a variety of kitchen tools, and being safe in the kitchen. You will also learn about the different parts of the Wellness Wheel. We will discuss what aspects of life impact our health and why caring for our bodies is important.

DAY 2 – NUTRIENTS FOR A HEALTHY BODY
Build your knowledge about the different types of foods we eat. We will be analyzing food labels and learning about how food affects our bodies. Learn about the differences between carbs, proteins, and fats. Discover what nutrients are important to our bodies. Put it all together by cooking a nutritious meal that provides the perfect balance of carbs, proteins, and fats.

DAY 3 – SUGAR, FAT, AND FAD DIETS
Not every food is beneficial for the body. Test your knowledge about sugar and fat through a fun game. Learn about different diets and the benefits and disadvantages of each. Afterwards, participants will prepare a meal made from foods that protect our bodies and keep us healthy and happy.

DAY 4 – IMPROVE YOUR DIET
How can we make our diets better? During this lesson, you will analyze your own diet and think about ways you can make it better. The majority of this lesson will be spent in the kitchen creating a variety meals. We will focus on cooking foods for breakfast, lunch, dinners, and snacks.

OTHER CAMP INFO: iSG Camps is a division of the International Sporting Group based in Columbus, Ohio. The management of iSG Camps has been operating youth sports camps for over 19 years with a high rate of customer satisfaction. Camps are well organized and designed so that the designated professional athlete can easily come in and interact with youth participants.

We recognize the benefits of sports participation for youth. We work with athletes of all levels. Our priority is to get children involved in physical activity and to help alleviate the ‘couch potato’ mentality that many young people are faced with. For more athletic students, our goal is to help elevate them to the next level. CAMP FACILITIES: We have primitive campsites with a picnic table for each site.
Rustic Cabins with bunks and the space outside of the cabin for additional tents and gear for your family. Camp Tracy has a small lake/pond for fishing, open spaces for classic camp activities and games. The lodge has a dining hall, seating, fireplace inside and fire pits outside in the amphitheater.

Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Dan Kostopulos and his wife Helen had big hearts and they loved helping people and giving to those less fortunate. They found their niche through helping individuals with disabilities. As early as 1954, they formed a charitable organization to address this special populations needs. By 1967, they established Camp Kostopulos -- which would go on to provide smiles to thousands of children and adults with disabilities.

Our Mission: The Kostopulos Dream Foundation/Camp Kostopulos is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities through recreation, education and growth experiences.

Our Goal: To make our services available to all people, regardless of ability, income, or place of residence.

All of our programs are designed and supervised by licensed Recreational Therapists.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We run several programs and activities year-round.

Briefly, we offer:

1) K-Kids Adventures: Offers recreation and experiential learning for children ages 7-17 with special needs. The goal for the K-Kids Program is to provide activities to develop functional life skills, increase leisure awareness, and reduce barriers to recreation participation.

2) Teen Quest: An exciting program for teens ages 13-17 with special needs. This program provides teenagers with an opportunity, at least once a week, to socialize with their peers, while addressing their individual needs.

3) Adult Social Club: Allows adults with special needs, ages 18 and up, to expand their social circles, while learning how to use community resources.

4) Special Programs: Included in the monthly calendars are the activity descriptions and registration forms for a variety of special programs and events. These programs and events include the following: Fitness Program, Snow Adventures, Art Expressions, Horseback Riding, Dance Program, Bowling League, Drama Club and many more.

Located 2.5 miles up Emigration Canyon and ten minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, Camp Kostopulos is an excellent retreat environment for business, civic, church, community, and other groups.

Its facilities, lodged amongst the oak and cottonwood trees and Emigration Creek, are ideal for groups wanting to reinforce team enrichment in either the workplace or community. Lodging, horseback riding, swimming, and other challenging and team-oriented activities are offered to enhance personal growth, as well as build team and family relationships. Available for day and/or overnight excursions, Camp Kostopulos is an ideal place to conduct family- and work-related activities providing both a recreational and leisure environment all year long.

Equestrian Center Lessons/Rentals/Lease:

The indoor equestrian center is an amazing facility. It houses both the riding arena and the horse stables under one roof. The entire building measures 200 ft. long and 100 ft. wide. The stables measure 40’ X 100’. The stable area contains nine horse stalls, wash/groom bay, hay/feed storage, tack room, and a mechanical room. Each horse has its own outdoor turn out paddock from their stall. The arena riding area is 80’ X 140’. The arena space contains an office which overlooks the arena floor. The office has its own private restroom. There are public restrooms and bleachers next to the arena.

The equestrian center sits on the mountain top over looking Emigration Canyon. The views are beautiful throughout the four seasons. The facility is nestled among the scrub oaks and sage brush. Horse programs will run year round in this heated facility. Programs are offered for Camp Kostopulos’ participants and for other agencies and organizations that wish to utilize the many types of horse related program options. Specialized equine programs will include working with those individuals with: physical impairments, mental impairments, emotional and behavioral differences, social difficulties, and those who are developmentally delayed.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: WHAT TO EXPECT

Campers will be put through extreme and fun ninja warrior training, new courses to conquer each week, team challenges, balance battles, grip challenges, parkour, free play time and so much more! We will also be playing some fun games like “Ninja Hide ‘n Seek” and “Ninja Tag”. Summer camp sessions are 5 days long for 3 hours per day. We will be having a pizza party on the last day of summer camp!

We will serve small snacks each day, but NO lunch so please plan accordingly. We have a drinking fountain to keep our campers hydrated, but children are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water (water only, please)

WHO CAN REGISTER

Our summer day camps are designed for ages 5-13. There will be VERY limited availability in each session, so please do not wait to register if this is something your kids really want to participate in. We anticipate these spots filling up very quickly. (You do NOT need to be a member to register for our summer camps)

CAMP FACILITIES: We have specialized equipment for your child to learn gymnastics quickly and safely. Your child will begin learning back handsprings and back tucks on the first lesson. This is completed because of our small class sizes and private instructions. We have better technique at an accelerated rate, which allows your child to progress at their own rate. In addition, we provide m ore hands-on spotting and attention.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: While we only ask parents for 10% of the cost, for a camper to attend a program, we offer partial or full camperships for families who may not be able to afford the tuition for a program.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We have a Brain Tumor Family Camp that is specifically designed for families with a child with a Brain Tumor diagnosis, and/or a Brain Tumor Survivor.

In addition, we have out "general" Family Camp for families with a child that has a cancer diagnosis, and/or are a survivor.

CAMP FACILITIES: We provide college dorms, classrooms, a cafeteria and a variety of fast-food restaurants, a fun campus atmosphere, practice rooms, theatres, and so much more.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Welcome to BYU Musicians’ SummerFestival. At this camp, you will have the opportunity to make music in groups and solo settings. Our world-class faculty will push, prod, lift, energize, and inspire you to new musical heights! During BYU Summerfestival you will be filled with music and fun-rehearsals, master classes, lessons, electives, and more! Every year we try our best to fill each night and day with a combination of musical exhilaration and social joviality with things such as, a Faculty Recital, a Student Honors Recital, team challenges and more!

The camp director is Dr. Mark Ammons, Assistant Director of the School of Music and Director of BYU Musicians’ Institute and SummerFestival, who received his Bachelor of Music degree at Brigham Young University in trombone performance, with a minor in French. He completed his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in trombone performance at the University of Southern California.

OTHER CAMP INFO: BYU offers in campus housing, or the option of commuting each day. If you stay in campus housing, you will have a counselor (one counselor for every 10–15 participants). Counselors supervise activities and coordinate devotionals (scripture, song, and prayer) each evening. Commuters will also be assigned a counselor and are welcome to participate in all activities, including evening devotionals. Campus participants are not allowed to leave the residence halls after the nightly headcount. Commuters must check out with their counselor and be picked up each evening by an adult after the rehearsals/activities.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We have been teaching programming, robotics, Minecraft, and Game Design classes for over 14 years!

We believe learning should be fun and challenging! Learning through play and experimentation leads to long lasting understanding!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Frames/stop motion animation. They will learn how to create a short film or a mini clip using cameras. Students will learn a new sotware program and will be able to use the drawing tools, add a background, text, transition, record narration, and export the animation.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Into the woods we go! What is better than a twist on your favorite childhood story tales? Possibly the fact that YOU could be a part of it! BYU’s Broadway Bootcamp proudly presents Into the Woods this upcoming summer, where wishes and witches change it all.

Broadway Bootcamp consists of a two-week theatre workshop where participants have the opportunity to learn from theatre professionals and each other. Everyone will get the chance to perform as we love to give everyone an opportunity to shine. Each named role will be played by several people who switch out at scene changes. This unique approach makes our camp a great opportunity for aspiring performers of all ages and experience levels.

BYU Theatre and Media Arts (TMA) faculty, BYU TMA students, and Music Dance Theatre students and graduates teach the summer camp. Some of the specialty workshops are taught by theater professionals from the community and BYU TMA faculty.

Broadway Bootcamp will provide an immersive theatre experience:

- Beginning, intermediate, and seasoned high school drama students are welcome.
- Participate in masterclasses, specialty workshops, and rehearsals.
- Be mentored through classroom and performance instruction.
- Enjoy the great atmosphere only Brigham Young University can offer.
- Make new friends with similar dreams, goals, and standards.

In these intense two weeks with talented instructors and theatre professionals, you will develop your talents and learn new skills. Daily classes will help you gain confidence in your specific track, along with combined master classes.

Every year talented players attend our camps and challenge each other to the limit, growing in skill and experience. A number of our campers have experienced training trials with professional clubs in Holland. We fly in our coaches directly from the Netherlands. They are not merely coaches: they are also teachers. Many of our coaches have graduated from a four- year CIOS College. Since its inception in 1997 (formerly known as Ichen Art Studio), Ichen Art Academy has been putting relentless focus on developing high-quality art programs, reflected through its students’ artworks and measured by its students’ achievements. Many of its art-major students have now gone on to renowned art colleges and most prestigious majors such as CalArt’s Character Animation, ArtCenter’s Entertainment Design and Rhode Island School of Design. Some art-major students from early years have found employments in high-tech companies such as Google, Facebook and Netflix. Similarly, its non-art-major students have been accepted by nation’s top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton and MIT with the help of submission of a strong supplemental art portfolio. By consistently winning large numbers of national level awards in art competitions, Ichen Art Academy students’ skill levels and artworks are among the best in every age group.

Art Consultation Service for College Applications
The art counselor team at Ichen Art Academy specializes in helping art-major students prepare strong college art portfolios and apply for top art colleges and majors in the US. The team is also responsible for helping non-art-major students develop robust supplemental art portfolios for applying top private universities.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We partner with Youth Art Foundation, a non-profit organization to help our students develop leadership and utilize their art talents and skills to make positive contributions to their communities.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: In our camps kids learn climbing fundamentals such as how to use equipment, and rope work; they learn movement and problem solving, often through games such as no-handed climbing, blind climbing, and climbing capture the flag. Kids also get to try our seventy-foot-tall walls-- the tallest in the country! This year our camp will make use of our brand-new kids climbing area and greatly expanded obstacle course.

We provide all necessary equipment as well as a camp t-shirt and a daily snack.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Kindermusik at Song of the Heart Studios offers a summer adventure for children birth to age seven. Sing, sway, laugh and play as we enjoy musical adventures all summer long. With baby camps,toddler and family camps, big kid drop-off camps and more we are your one stop shop for musical fun this summer! Join us and discover a place where music and learning play.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp is led by Liz Graden, a private horn and trumpet teacher. She has a degree in instrumental music education, so she has training in all standard band instruments. She has played in bands, orchestras, and small ensembles for many years.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: There are discounts for registering with other campers.

During registration, you'll indicate your availability throughout the summer. Based on these schedules and playing ability, we will create small ensembles with schedules that work for everyone.

Each session is 2 weeks, Monday through Friday for 1½ hours per day. There will be a performance for parents at the end of the last day of Camp.
